The City of Truesdale requires building permits for various construction. If you are building on a new site, please refer to the City Codified Ordinances Chapter 500 Building Codes and Building Regulations. It will provide most of the information you need. NOTE: If you live in a sub-division or a mobile home park, you may have restrictions and covenants that pertains to your certain location that are in addition to the city’s ordinances. It is your responsibility to make sure your project does not violate these restrictions and covenants.
On March 26, 2014, the City of Truesdale adopted the 2012 International Building Code, 2012 International Residential Code for one-and Two Family Dwellings, 2012 International Mechanical Code, 2012 International Plumbing Code 2012 International Existing Building Code, 2012 International Property Maintenance Code, and the 2014 Electrical Code and amendments thereto on One (1) copy of these codes and amendments thereto shall be kept on file in the office of the City Clerk.
In October 2016, the City adopted the 2015 International Energy Conservation Code.
All new constructions of homes will be inspected by the Building Inspector.
It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to construct or cause to be constructed any fence or privacy screen upon any property within the City of Truesdale without first having obtained a permit. The owner, renter, or lessee of the property shall be responsible for obtaining the permit unless it can be demonstrated that he/she has hired a contractor to erect the fence or privacy screen. If a contractor has been hired to erect a fence or privacy, then such person, firm, or corporation shall be responsible for obtaining the permit.
All fences and privacy screens shall be constructed of either metal, ornamental wire, wrought iron, plastic or wood. A decorative fence constructed of any of the preceding materials shall be permitted provided the building commission determines the proposed fence is of structurally sound construction.

The fee for the permit to erect or construct a fence or privacy screen upon property in the City of Truesdale shall be set at twenty-five dollars ($25.00).
A city permit is required for the following: (must meet all three requirements)
(1) A porch or deck that is Sixty-four (64 square) feet or less in size, and
(2) The height from the ground to the floor of the porch is thirty-six (36) inches or less, and
(3) The material being used is all new.
The city permit will be twenty-five ($25.00) for two inspections. Additional
cost could occur if additional inspections are required.
A building Inspector permit shall be required for the following;
(1) A porch or deck that is over sixty-four (64) square feet in size OR
(2) The height from the ground to the floor is over thirty-six inches, OR
(3) The material being used is not new.
The building inspector permit will be two hundred ($200) for two (2) inspections. Additional cost could occur if additional inspections are required.
A city permit is required for the following:
(1) A single storage shed twelve (12) feet by twelve (12) feet or smaller or a carport ten (10) feet by twenty (20) feet or smaller, which are pre-fabricated and erected on site without electricity.
The city permit fee will be twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for two (2) inspections. Additional cost could occur if additional inspections are required.
A building inspection permit will be required for the following:
(1) All sheds, garages, and carports (regardless of size) with electricity, OR
(2) All sheds, garages, and carports which are built on site, or if material for construction is used, OR
(3) The shed or garage is over twelve (12) feet by twelve (12) feet in size or carport is larger than ten (10) by twenty (20) feet in size.
The building permit will be two hundred ($200) for two (2) inspections. Additional cost could occur if additional inspections are required.
The City of Truesdale has a fee of one hundred dollars ($100) for a permit approving the placement of a modular home or manufactured home within the City of Truesdale. This approval should be obtained prior to moving the mobile home into the City of Truesdale.
The permit application can be printed, filled out, and sent to the City of Truesdale, 109 Pinckney Street, Truesdale, MO 63383 or brought to City Hall.
Unless the home is brand new, the application should include pictures taken of all four sides of the home, and the current location of the home should be proven.
It is required to obtain a building inspector permit for a manufactured or modular home. The building inspection fee will be two hundred dollars ($200) for two inspections. This permit will provide you with the approved occupancy permit from the Building Inspector. Additional cost could occur if additional inspections are required.
If home is placed on basement or foundation, then the home will be inspected under the building codes instead of the manufactured or modular home ordinance.
All new construction will require a plan review and a permit to be issued from the Building Inspector. The application is available to print in the right column of this webpage.
All buildings to be occupied by a business or commercial enterprise will need to obtain an occupancy permit from the City of Truesdale and from the Warrenton Fire Department prior to opening to the public.
